Why do people visit North Creek, New York, besides that it's really cold and frosty with lots of snow?

The wilderness, the Adirondack Park. the peacefulness, the serenity, the peace and quiet, the neighborliness!

North Creek is located between Lake Placid and Lake George, from the Northway I87, Exit 23 to 26, an easy 4.5 hour drive from New York City, and 2.5 hours from Utica.

North Creek is unique because it is the home of New York State's Gore Mountain Ski Area, operated by The New York State Olympic Development Authority, which was put into place right after the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid to foster the awareness and education of winter sports in the Adirondack Park. Gore is managed by Michael Pratt, a conscientious ski area operator. The ski area is known for it's friendly staff and family atmosphere. The mountain is huge and can accommodate vast amounts of weekend visitors with an abundance of uphill capacity and varied terrain for all levels and abilities. There is a full service Snow Sports Center, managed by Gail Setlock with some of the most qualified Ski Instructors in the North East, including BJ Prior, one of the "Top 100" ski instructors in the country! The children's "learn to ski program" is revered by most parents , grandparents and kids alike. The New York Ski Education Foundation also runs a formidable USSA Race Program for young accomplished ski racers with Bone Baise at the helm.

Nearby is Garnet Hill Cross Country Ski Area surrounded by the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area in North River, and that is just up the road 10 miles! Then the Hudson River rolls thru the Town of North Creek and is home to several white water rafting companies. The Upper Hudson Rail Road hosts a scenic river tourist train in the Spring, Summer and Fall and in the winter it transforms into one of the best snowmobile rides in the East.

Then there is North Creek! A small one horse town, with one four way stop and a real estate company on the corner, two gas stations, one liquor store, one drug store, a bakery, a Post Office, a laundry mat, one grocery store, one dentist, two lawyers (always got to have two, it wouldn't work with just one), several restaurants, a pizza place and now, enough pubs to have Pub Crawls! There is also a beautiful new gallery and community center, two churches, a town hall, a library, a pre k-12 school, a nursing home and a health center and a garnet mine.

North Creek has a beautiful town park with night time skiing, tubing and ice skating. There is soon to be the Grand Opening of the new TRIPLE. This lift that will take you to the top of the historic Little Gore, also known as the Ski Bowl and then you will be able to ski to the new Burnt Ridge QUAD and up to Big Gore. So, this is all new and exciting.

One thing that is great, is the mountain hasn't been ruined by overdevelopment, nor the surrounding areas. Our Adirondack Park zoning is the strictest in the country and our newly developing ski resort has had some of the best planners, designers, engineers and architects that have put their professions to task at keeping it pristine and beautiful.

Our hope is that you visit North Creek as tourist and leave as friends. LOL. Visit often and invest in real estate.
